There are two sides to most everything…
1) By day, 751 is pure pub all re-deep fried McCain French fries and hot wings with the UFC playing from one of several flat screen TVs throughout.
2) At night, 751 turns into a bunch of one-off theme parties.
My favourite is probably “Slow Jams” and “Motown Party” both put on by promoters, The Good Kids.
The basic layout is 2-floors of home-style English pub feel with red patterened carpets and high-backed wooden booths that you can sink into all night.
The capacity is somewhere around 150 including both floors and the non-licensed backyard smoking patio. The sound system is set up so you can have two separate parties or one, two-floor jam.
Service wise, it’s fast and no-nonsense. Almost everyone who frequents knows Jasmine, the on-again, off again bar manager and also one of the dopest broads on Queen St. West. The bartenders handle volume really well but are also great at mid-afternoon idle chat too, which is probably why there are so many regulars.
If you do become a regular, your wait time for a drink gets cut down to nothing and your orders will always be remembered and made how you like ‘em, so it’s worth be-friending the staff.
Basically, it’s a rock and roll “Cheers” that makes it next to impossible to have just one and call it a night.
