Asuka is one of the best places to eat sushi in Yorkville. It’s not as expensive as Shogun and not as flashy as Yamamoto, and it’s not open as late as Sushi Inn, but it’s the number one most frequented sushi restaurant by locals.

Basically it’s the food and the service that makes Asuka come out on top. First off, the cuts are really fresh. It’s simple and authentic and clean, the three things that usually cost a fortune anywhere else, are really reasonable here. The lunch deals are amazing. Bentos and sushi and salad and soups for $10 or less, you can’t beat that anywhere!

Located on the north side of Yorkville Ave and down a few steep steps lies this quaint restaurant. There are a few tables on one wall and a thee secluded rooms separated by flaps in traditional Japanese style for business meetings and private dinners, but the bar is where all the action is. Sato, the chef and owner, knows all the regulars and remembers what they like and how they like it. He regularly recommends tasty dishes off the menu and almost always gives you a little something extra. The waitresses are all very nice and I love that they bring fresh fruit with your bill.

During Film Fest, this place heats up with celebs as so many of them have been frequenting over the years. It’s Sato and his staff’s discretion and the local word of mouth that gets them there, but it’s the food that brings them back.

The Sunomono salad is a great appetizer and the Chirashi dinner is packed with so much variety, it’s literally impossible to improve.
