Paris may have those quaint dainty pastry shops but Toronto has something even better: Dufflet! This landmark has been around since the ‘70s and now provides mouthwatering confections to 500 restaurants, cafes, specialty food shops and grocery stores in and around the city.
From wedding cakes to mini cupcakes to tangy tarts and chocolately morsels, this place has something to please everyone. They even offer a small selection of savoury foods like pakoras and spanakopita.
They also serve a mean coffee!
The Queen West location is the birthplace of Dufflet and the place I always go. The service is fast and friendly and best of all the staff is knowledgeable. Don’t know what the chocolate mound in the corner of the display case is? Just ask! They actually do know what’s in every single confection and they’ve always been spot on recommending a new tasty treat.
Personally, I recommend the cakes here (and they do a great job of personalizing them). You might pay a little more than you would in a grocery store, but it’s so worth it.
And what better way to spend a Saturday than by people watching or reading the paper at their window booth while drinking a brut hot chocolate and indulging in a raspberry chocolate truffle tarte!
