seven-east-torontoSeven East is a bit of an enigma.

Sitting at 1116 Yonge Street, it’s an unpretentious, yet upscale Thai eatery in Rosedale. The padded banquets are very modern and add to the overall slick decor, but at the same time, the service is lightening fast like the traditional Thai spots in Chinatown, but served with a smile and uniform manners, it’s pleasant through and through.

The real win with Seven East is the takeout and delivery. It’s all in the details this place for sure. The menu is a demure pink square with mango salads and vegetarian platters and the regular Thai curries in minimal listed sections, that fold out as you browse. They have the regular $25 order or more and your delivery is free option, which is easy to hit in a few dishes.

When your food is ready to take away, they pack it in reusable bistro-style plastic dish ware and pack it into a pink paper shopping bag with rope handles. When that bag arrives at your house (in under 30 minutes if you live in the Yonge and Bloor neighborhood) it feels like you’re unwrapping a gift each time. There’s no messy leaks or turned over food, it’s perfect every time. I was won over the first time i saw how much care they put into the packaging.

My favorite dish is the garlic shrimp with a side of sticky rice in a banana leaf. It also keeps well overnight in the fridge and the plastic tupperware is perfect to pack the leftovers in for a work lunch the next day.

I love the take-out containers….reminds me of when I used to live in Van and went to Noodle Box. Seven East is now one of my fav spots to pop in.
