Anyone who works 9 – 5 knows how important is to have a watering hole as close as humanly possible to the office.

Mine would be the Watermark Irish Pub, (located just an elevator ride away) and thank the lord for its proximity.

I’ve been here several times for after-work drinks and every time, it’s been a relatively positive experience.

There are, however, a couple things that suck about Watermark (perhaps because it opened not too long ago):

a)    It’s located in the Harbourfront centre (a well-known tourist rap) and therefore the food is ludicrously overpriced ($17 for two pieces of fish and chips,  seriously?)
b)    The service, although friendly, is often slow. Several times, I’ve seen our waitress/waiter casually talking to a host of other servers near the bar when we’ve been waiting for our bill/food/drinks, etc.
c)    The promotions are out of whack. I went here when they had a GIANT Bud Light Lime display in the window only to be told they didn’t have any left. I was then given a regular Budweiser and some lime, which I was told would be the same (it was not).

That said, the food here is really tasty (great wings, nachos, calamari, salads, sliders) and the restaurant is HUGE with a giant outdoor patio that sprawls everywhere and overlooks the harbour.

It’s also got that great Irish pub feel that makes it a casual and relaxed place to have a drink (or several) after work. Despite the cons of this place, I still dig going here for a bite and brew and if you’re near the Harbourfront Centre, I highly recommend you check it out.
